Kroehler Mansion

The Kroehler Mansion
The Kroehler Mansion was saved from demolition in the fall of 2020.

History

Built in 1907 by Naperville businessman and manufacturer extraordinaire, Peter Kroehler, the Kroehler Mansion and its garage seem to defy architectural classification but they have an undeniable place in Naperville’s history. The 19-room house features a beautiful monogrammed mosaic entryway, original fireplaces, and a built-in safe.

The Journey

When time came for current owner Little Friends to move into a new home, Naperville Preservation worked persistently to preserve the mansion and to lessen the density of the surrounding new development.

The Result

The Mansion will be preserved and subdivided into several units. The developer will be able to take advantage of historic preservation tax credits, and the density of the surrounding development has been lessened.
